General Bayat was in service of his country for over 30 years. During these 30 years, he served in various civil servant roles and advanced in the military to the title of General. After his retirement, he successfully ran for the membership of the Iranian Parliament representing Zanjan, where he was born. During his career, he was involved with various Iranian sports federations including the role of the Head of National Cycling Federation, Mountain Climbing Federation and Marksmanship Federation. During the Iranian Revolution, he offered himself to the revolutionary authorities in order to serve in come capacity in the development of Iran. He was arrested and taken to the Evin prison. He was there for a couple of months where he was interrogated a few times. He was allowed a brief visit with his wife on only one occasion. On April 12, 1980, he was awakened at approximately 3AM to attend court hearing. In the middle of the night, he was summarily tried in Tehran. After a brief hearing at the court with no representation and with little time to share the record of his service, the court, having found no other legal justification for a guilty verdict, found him guilty for his role in the past government as the corrupter of the earth and sentenced him to execution with the firing squat to be carried out immediately. Upon hearing his sentence, his only comment was "in the future, they will build our statues for the life of service we rendered to country". He was allowed a few minutes to write his will. He was among a group of other civil servants to be executed in the early morning of that same day. No notification was ever given to his wife and family. His wife found out about the faith of her husband by seeing a picture of General Bayat on the front page of the newspaper taken after his execution. General Bayat was a loving father and family man, he was a good friend and in his various roles, did everything he could to help people, to advance Iran and the Iranian community. He was a strong believe in the foundation of education and the need for education for the growth and development of Iran.
General Bayat was a member of the Iranian Parliament representing Zanjan, the city of his birth during the Iranian Revolution of 1979. One April 12th, 1980, he was awakened in very early morning, around 4:00am after his imprisonment of approximately two month, he was summarily tried and executed on the same day before sunrise. Upon the reading of the court verdict of corrupter of earth for his role in protecting Iranian border in the 1st Iran-Iraq war, he responded by stating "in the future, they will build our statues for our lives of service for Iran". Approximately 8 months later, the 2nd Iran-Iraq war started, resulting in over 1 million deaths.
General Bayat served in many roles in military for approximately 35 years before honorably retiring around 1975.
During his military career, General Bayat was always actively involved in sports at a national level, servings as the head federations for cycling, climbing, and marksmanship. As the head of Iranian Cycling Federation, along with the Iranian cyclists, he represented Iran in the Munich Olympics.
General Bayat was involved with many decisions towards the development and modernization of Iranian industries.
General Bayat was a loving father, always emphasizing the importance of education to his children for the future of Iran and humanity. Today his children continue to carry his legacy successfully in their respective professional fields.
